Originally our first stop was going to be at Crater Lake, however as we made our way through Eugene (all of 90 minutes away from Portland) the air was already thick with smoke. We looked up government website to see that there was a fire on the south side of Crater Lake that was still spreading. So we decided we should keep driving until we're out of the smoke. This brought us to get some grilled cheeses at Rogue Creamery first, then hit up a road side attraction: The Oregon Vortex 'House of Mystery' Although we didn't do the tour since would take over a half hour.
We planned on swinging through Burney Falls on day 2, but realized we could hightail it over there first and so we did.
When Alyssa first said 133 foot waterfall, i kind of thought it would be small. It was super wide and gorgeous since it was ground water coupled with mountain run off. And on a hot day it was so much cooler down by the water.
We hiked all around it and needed up camping right at the road at Dusty Campground, which was right on a lake up the road.
This farm shot was just a pit stop we made that I thought was kind of rad.
Then we made our way to Lake Tahoe. As soon as I saw a place to pull off I did and we got down to the water and went for a swim. The water was perfect and there was only 2 boats in the water.
We found a sweet spot to watch the sun go down and met a local fella who told us the best spot to watch the sun rise tomorrow.
Next stop Reno...
