Hop Hoppy Hop Farming!

So any of you who have read my first post may already have an inkling that I want a hop farm.

Well kids, last Monday, my hop-nation dreams began coming true!  I got me a radio flyer full of hop plants and headed to the farm at Sauvies.

I ventured just a bit east of the city to a lil' hop farm and bought 9 varieties of hops!  There the fellow had each variety in a line of V's up 25 feet of rope.
I bought the healthiest looking crops of the bunch and two each of Centennial, Goulding and Brewer's Gold.  I quickly headed right over to the farm to put them in the ground.

I dug 10 mounds to set up a little teepee made of bamboo which I stung together so they would have something to vine up to.
The picture above is a Mt. Hood Hop

We fertilized each mound with a mixture that our land-mate Clayton gave us along with a little bit of HOPSMACK IPA.
There we transplanted each hop cutting, leaving two of the sister plants together.

After planting them we had two days well into 85 degrees and these next two days have been raining so I'm happy to report that the Fuggle and the Brewer's Gold on Mound 5 have already produced their own off shoots of greenery and are looking happy :)
