The glorious coast

Shortly after seeing this amazing looking water, I ordered a 5/4 wetsuit and booties and am ready to ride some 8 footers!!! The surf forecast said the waves would be 10-15ft in certain areas!
The day that I drove to the ocean it was maybe 50 degrees and a little rainy. On the way in; I saw my first rainbow, then it started snowing like crazy, then we were inside of a rainbow, then the sun came out and the beautiful ocean revealed itself to me.
Did I mention that I got my first drive-through latee? So all over Portland are little drive-through espresso huts on the side of the road. Holy wow, it friggin hit the spot!
So Alex and I walked along the coast and scoped out all these Victorian houses which looked so out of place to be on the beach. But we didn't come for the houses.
I had to get out and scope out the first beach I saw. I think this is Cannon beach. We headed next to one of Alex's favorite beaches. Short Sand Beach on Falcon Cape.
Tsunamis are real folks!
We had to hike into it from Oswald.
The walk in was amazing!
Alex pointed out different trees and plants and even a few mushrooms!
The forest was filled with wild berry bushes and giant trees with hemlocks growing out and around them.
Check out the roots on that one uprooted tree! It must have just come down like days ago.
Then we got to the water.
There was a handful of surfers out there.
And large trees surrounded the ocean.
We hiked up the side and of a canyon to find this spot.
Of course we had tea!
And watched the sun set.
We headed down the road and grabbed awesome food at an Irish place.
The small flicker of light is people having a bonfire.
We compared Murphys Stout mustaches before heading back to reality.
Despite my diabolical look: life is grand!
